Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Raheem Sterling asked the club to facilitate his exit in January.
Sterling is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing opportunities at the Etihad Stadium this season and is keen to ply his trade elsewhere, with Barcelona poised to make the deal happen.
Several factors have contributed to Raheem Sterling’s largely underwhelming performances at City in 2021, but the England star might just be getting back on track.
Sterling netted the opening goal for Manchester City on Sunday, his second Premier League goal of the campaign having also netted in a 5-0 victory against Norwich City at the start of the season.
In October, Sterling said he would be open to leaving Manchester in pursuit of more game time and Barcelona, under new boss Xavi, have been frequently linked to a player who is out of contract in June 2023.
90min revealed on Saturday that Sterling have told Pep Guardiola he ‘wants a loan move in January’ as Barcelona are showing an ‘interest’.
According to Mundo Deportivo on Monday, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Sterling has ‘asked’ Manchester City to ‘facilitate’ a transfer to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Chief, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
Sometimes a change is good. If he wants to go, let him go. He does not seem to be happy here anymore. https://t.co/0wJ9zTb7Y9

He has scored 117 goals with 89 assists in 308 games. Helped us to multiple trophies and records. And you think its ok to disrespect him by saying we dont need him?

It’d simple.. If we get a striker in in Jan it could happen because we will be overloaded.
If it doesn’t which it won’t he won’t leave
