Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is ‘willing to accept’ a loan offer with a mandatory €50m purchase option for Raheem Sterling.
The England international has struggled to hold a key role in Pep Guardiola’s plans so far this season, and has only started six of his 15 appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old, who was an unused substitute in the Manchester derby against Manchester United on Saturday, has only managed two goals and two assists for the English champions this term.
Phil Foden’s development and the £100million arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa has only further fuelled the belief that the 26-year-old will leave.
Sterling is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing opportunities at the Etihad Stadium this season and is keen to ply his trade elsewhere, with Barcelona poised to make the deal happen.
With Sterling set to have just one year remaining on his contract come the summer, speculation around Sterling’s future has already begun to swirl.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City would be ready to accept a loan offer for the Barcelona target, provided a mandatory purchase clause is included.
The report claims the Blues are comfortable only with a financial figure of around €50 million attached with the clause.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
This is shocking if it’s true https://t.co/n7d9OO257g
