Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will sanction the departure of Raheem Sterling, as long as he can get his hands on one of Barca’s young stars Pedri, claims a report.
Barcelona continue to be strongly linked with a move for the 26-year-old, who only has little over 18 months left to run on his current deal with the Premier League champions.
The England international has struggled to hold a key role in Pep Guardiola’s plans so far this season, and has only started eight of his 17 appearances in all competitions.
Phil Foden’s development and the £100million arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa has only further fuelled the belief that the 26-year-old will leave.
Sterling’s lack of action has seen Barcelona linked with his services. And reports recently have claimed that top Barca official Mateu Alemany has flown to Manchester to test the water over a deal for Sterling.
According to El Nacional, City would be open to Sterling’s departure in the January transfer window if Barca threw Pedri.
The report claims Pep Guardiola has proposed a swap deal with Spanish giants Barcelona that would see talented wonderkid Pedri make the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
Pedri who celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday, is considered as one of the brightest and most exciting players in the world and recently won the coveted Golden Boy award.
The young midfielder, who starred for Spain at Euro 2020, is under contract at the Camp Nou until the summer of 2026.
