Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Raheem Sterling has reportedly informed the club that he wants to leave for Barcelona on loan in January, after not seeing himself in Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans.
The England international has struggled to hold a key role in Pep Guardiola’s plans so far this season, and has only started six of his 15 appearances in all competitions.
Phil Foden’s development and the £100million arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa has only further fuelled the belief that the 26-year-old will leave.
Sterling is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing opportunities at the Etihad Stadium this season and is keen to ply his trade elsewhere, with Barcelona poised to make the deal happen.
With Sterling set to have just one year remaining on his contract come the summer, speculation around Sterling’s future has already begun to swirl with a handful of reports even indicating that the winger is open to the idea of moving to the Camp Nou.
According to 90min, Sterling have told Pep Guardiola he ‘wants a loan move in January’ as Barcelona are showing an ‘interest’.
it remains to be seen if he’ll be granted a temporary departure, with Pep Guardiola tired of being asked about Sterling’s future, having been quizzed in Barcelona last week.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

Better than selling him. A loan spell might be a blessing in disguise. Good luck, Raz.

Exactly how I feel, not one of these weird Sterling haters but think it’s probably best for all parties to part ways

Fair enough. Put the €75m on the table and we’ll take it from there.

Sad, but sort of expected. Hope he does well there.

Sterling doesn’t make loan decisions. Him and his agent need to find the money to pay city their asking fee, then he can go.

Think we’ve had the best out of him to be fair. If he goes then he goes with my best wishes. It seems Guardiola has a new idea in mind. Maybe incorporating an actual No.9…

If it’s true then we wish him the best, and thank him for everything he’s done. But we’re still making a massive mistake don’t get it twisted https://t.co/W7kNDqCDsi
