A number of Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to react to Joao Cancelo’s performance as Pep Guardiola’s side eased to a 4-1 victory over Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
It was a difficult first half for the Citizens, although they did find the breakthrough when Joao Cancelo fired a low shot across the box and Phil Foden poked home after quarter of an hour.
John Stones own-goal set up an uncomfortable night for City but Riyad Mahrez, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus secured victory for Pep Guardiola’s side in the second half though.
One of the major talking points of the game was the performance of Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo.
It was a sublime display by currently the most inform full-back in Europe. The defender (who often rampages forward) picked up three assists for the Citizens in an all-round exceptional performance.
Against Club Brugge, Cancelo played for 90 minutes, had 134 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 90.7% of his 108 passes, created seven chances, had three shots, whipped in two crosses, had two tackles, made one clearance and had three interceptions

Best fullback in Europe by a country mile. No one comes close. Should make FIFAs best XI.

Almost an unbelievable finish first half as well. This guy is different class, think he could perform well RM/LB or anywhere across midfield including CM. Such a versatile footballer
