Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is weighing up the possibility of signing PSG prodigy Xavi Simons.
The former Barcelona prospect has been restricted to appearances for Les Parisiens’ Under-19s this term but has made quite the name for himself in the UEFA Youth League.
Simons has scored two goals and set up four more in four continental appearances against Club Brugge, Manchester City and RB Leipzig, including a hat-trick of assists against the latter in a 4-1 win earlier this month.
The 18-year-old’s deal at the Parc des Princes is due to expire next summer, and PSG are believed to be working on an extension.
Embed from Getty ImagesAccording to Fichajes_futbol as relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester City are interested in the PSG midfielder and are ‘willing to make him an offer’ since Pep Guardiola is in ‘love with the way he plays’.
The report adds that Pep Guardiola’s side would wait for Simons’ contract to expire, rather than move in January, to ‘try to convince him’ to join them.
Man City view this as a ‘market opportunity’ and ‘do not want to miss’ out, if he decides to leave PSG. Xavi Simons is also on the radar of Barcelona, who are considering re-signing him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
