Borussia Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl has stated that Manchester City striker target Erling Braut Haaland will stay with the German club beyond this season.
The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2022, when his €75m (£64.39m) release clause becomes active.
The Borussia Dortmund’s striker is reportedly Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.
But figures at Dortmund seem confident the Norwegian superstar will stick around beyond 2022, despite the heavyweight interest, according to Borussia Dortmund’s head of first-team football Sebastian Kehl.
“Of course, we are trying to give him [Haaland] the feeling that Borussia Dortmund continues to be a top address for him and that he can still develop here,” Kehl told BILD on Sunday.
“Maybe we can still convince him. We will fight for him. We will try everything. The decision has not yet been made, but I would bet €100 (£85) [on him staying].”
These Sebastian Kehl’s comments on Haaland has prompt some Sky Blues to react on social media.
I bet you €1000 he doesn’t stay beyond this season.🤣

Well betting 100€ while being a millionaire? That's the most clear hint we could get today if Haaland will stay at Dortmund or nah 🤭

no way he would prefer Bayern, PSG or Real over his childhood club

Objectively speaking, I'd understand Haaland staying if you were a serious club. But instead you've become a player factory who barely touches competing for the Bundesliga.

If Haaland is even remotely intelligent, he'd leave because he knows there's no future.
