Declan Rice has been told to snub Manchester United and join Manchester City by a former United player.
Rice is regarded among the best midfielders in the country, with his performances for both West Ham and England having been consistently superb for some time now.
The 22-year-old, whose deal runs out in 2024, was heavily linked with a move away from West Ham during the recently concluded transfer window, but is still at the club.
Earlier last month the Guardian reported that the defending premier league champions were ‘monitoring’ Declan Rice’s future.
Rice is also admired by a number of the biggest clubs in the country, including Chelsea and Manchester United, both of whom were reported to be interested in him during the summer.
The increased speculation about his next club has seen Kleberson weigh in, saying that his playing style would fit in better at City under Pep Guardiola.
“It would be good to see Declan Rice play for Manchester City as they base their play around keeping the ball for long periods of time, which is something that Declan Rice likes to do,” Kleberson told Paddy Power.
“The style of play that Pep Guardiola creates would be perfect for him and the way Pep interacts with his players, is something that Rice would benefit from massively.”
At just 22, it’s clear to see why a number of teams are after the England international. A potential departure for Fernandinho could subsequently become a reason why Manchester City want Rice.
The Cityzens have been linked with a number of midfielders this summer, and with Fernandinho looking like leaving the Etihad at the end of the season, they do need reinforcements in that area.
