Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has hailed the “special” talent his England team-mate Phil Foden possesses.
The Manchester City forward may not have got on the scoresheet in the 5-0 victory but put in an eye-catching display at the Estadi Nacional.
The 21-year-old played in a deep-lying playmaker role as part of a central midfield three, and ran the show as the Three Lions cruised, as expected, to a routine win at the Estadi Nacional.
Mount, who will be in direct competition with Foden for a spot in the England, has praise his international team-mate ahead of England’s meeting with Hungary on Tuesday, per the Guardian .
“I know what Phil is about,” said Mount. “I’ve played against him many times and not just in the professional game – at academy level, too.
“The passes he sees, the passes he picks out, the way he moves with the ball … he is a top, top, top player. To see him do it on the big stage, like he’s done many times, it’s special”
These Mount’s comment on Foden has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.
