Manchester City forward Ferran Torres has been ruled out for up to six weeks through injury, the club have announced.
The 21-year-old was forced off after scoring twice in Spain’s Nations League semi-final against Italy last week, but was then deemed fit to start the final against France.
However, Torres was once again substituted as a result of the problem and he has now returned to Manchester for tests.
City said in a statement: “Ferran Torres has suffered an injury to his right foot whilst on international duty.
“The City forward, who scored twice in Spain’s UEFA Nations League semi-final victory over Italy and also started the showpiece final against France, has picked up a small fracture.
“He has since returned to Manchester for tests and will continue to be monitored.”
This means that he will miss several key games for club and country, including the Manchester derby at the start of next month and Spain’s crucial World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Sweden.
Torres has scored three goals in seven appearances for Manchester City this season, playing as a centre forward for Pep Guardiola’s side.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
