Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed Bernardo Silva after his winning strike in his side’s 1-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League.
Portugal’s Silva was linked with a move away from the champions in the close season after Guardiola admitted he was concerned by his reduction in playing time last season.
The Portuguese midfielder was again on target as Manchester City beat Leicester City 1-0 at The King Power Stadium.
Bernardo Silva earned City its third straight victory in the English Premier League with a second-half goal to see off Leicester on Saturday.
The city playmaker has had a superb start to the new season and his goal on 62 minutes settled this enthralling encounter at the King Power.
The forward’s first goal of the season gave the visitors a third straight win and revenge for last month’s Community Shield defeat to the Foxes.
Speaking after the win, the Catalan boss said: “Absolutely. Bernardo (Silva) played really well the last two games (against Arsenal and Leicester),” as quoted by City’s official website.
“I am pretty sure that he (Silva) can have a big season. He has an incredible work ethic and quality. We are happy he is here and we’ll see what happens. Again today, the connection with Jack (Grealish) and Joao (Cancelo) was brilliant.”
In reaction to this Guardiola’s comments shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
