RB Leipzig defender Angelino has revealed how pleased he was with the recent reception he received from his former club’s fans.
The former Manchester City defender made just 12 appearances after rejoining City in the summer of 2019 before being sent first on loan and then permanently in a £16.2m deal.
Angelino recently returned as part of the Leipzig squad for their clash with City in the Champions League, a game that didn’t go well for him personally as his side were beaten 6-3, and he was sent off.
It’s a memory you’d think Angelino, who had claimed Pep Guardiola didn’t give him a deserved shot in the Premier League, would rather forget but instead, it seems he was warmed by the reception he received.
“I was totally surprised that the whole stadium celebrated me when I had to leave the pitch in the game at Manchester City,” he told SportBILD.
“The fans were already cheering for me when I kicked a corner during the game.
“But the ten seconds after the yellow card were the best I’ve ever experienced with City. And it was my best moment so far this season.
“It sounds strange after a sending-off, but it was just a great gesture, and I was really pleased.”
These Angelino’s comments has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.
Mf still misses us. The City effect.
