Manchester City fans have been left amazed by full-back Joao Cancelo after he produced a sublime double nutmeg while playing for Portugal on Tuesday.
The City star started for Fernando Santos’s side alongside Etihad colleagues Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva. Cancelo and his teammates were on top form as they swept past their opponents with ease.
And in what was an impressive all-round performance by the visitors, Cancelo produced a sublime double nutmeg and grabbed an assist as Portugal won away to Azerbaijan in World Cup qualifying to go above Serbia and top of their group.
After chasing the ball to the touchline, the right-back nutmegged not one, but two players. He nutmegged the first man with a wonderfully impudent piece of skill, bamboozling him with two deft touches, before a stunning flick went through the legs of another Azerbaijan player.
City teammate, Bernardo Silva opened the scoring thanks to an assist from Bruno Fernandez. Andre Silva doubled the lead just prior to half-time before Cancelo assisted Diogo Jota for the final goal.
The former Juventus defender played the full 90 minutes in Azerbaijan having also started against the Republic of Ireland last week to take his number of caps to 29.
Cancelo has been in fine form at the start of this season, featuring in all three games for the Citizens, keeping clean sheets in the back-to-back 5-0 home wins over Norwich City and Arsenal.
Man City fans, then, were all over Twitter praising Joao Cancelo for his display. Here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter…
