Kayky, who’s leaving Fluminense to join Manchester City, could arrive in Manchester earlier than first expected.
Manchester City in April that they had agreed a deal with Fluminense to sign the 18-year-old forward nicknamed the ‘next Neymar’ and the youngster signed a five-year contract with City who successfully fended off the competition for his signature.
Most youngsters City sign are immediately sent out on loan to play clubs in the City Football Group [CFG] network, but there’s a chance Kayky could be integrated into the club’s Under-23 squad which clinched the Premier League 2 title last campaign.
Even though the agreement between Fluminense and the Premier League side was for a January move, the winger has now rescinded his contract with the Brazilian club and will soon be on his way to England.
The 18-year-old has spoken about the transfer, and explained that he’s very excited to finally get to Manchester and start working with Manchester City’s squad.
“We had an agreement that was until the end of the year, but we weren’t able to fulfil it. They both had projects and understood that it was better for me to go now, that it was the best time. As mentioned, it was friendly,” Kayky told Globo Esporte.
“I’ve been anxious since the first time they said they had a proposal for me from Manchester City. It was my dream to work with Pep Guardiola, who I consider one of the best coaches, and every day I got closer I got more anxious.‘
‘I tried to keep the focus here, I had the whole season ahead of me. But it gets closer to the presentation date, it gets that butterflies in my stomach, which always hits when we go out on the pitch. And it’s very good to feel it.”
According to the Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Kayky and his family will first ‘stop’ in Portugal – where they will quarantine for 10 days upon arrival in Europe from Brazil – before then travelling to Manchester to link up with Man City.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

If the lad can bring his obvious talent and adapt it to the stresses and vigour of the Premier League, then City fans and fans, and in general, are in for a real treat. 👊
