Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believe Manchester City does not want to sell Bernardo Silva, with the player not dying to leave the club.
Citizens boss Pep Guardiola revealed during the summer transfer window that the Portugal international had informed the club of his desire to leave.
The deadline passed with the versatile attacker still in Manchester, though, and he has been an important player for the English champions this term, making six appearances in all competitions.
The 27-year-old, who cost £43m, has had a gentleman’s agreement to leave in the event of a suitable bid for the last year. But no side offered enough, and the midfielder stayed.
However, Carlton Palmer does not believe Manchester City want to sell Bernardo Silva.
‘I think he just wants more game time,” the ex-Leeds United star said via Transfer Tavern.
“I don’t think for one minute Man City want to let him go. I mean, he’s a top talented boy.
“If he gets minutes on the football pitch, I think he’ll be happy.”
The 27-year-old, who was linked with both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, still has four years left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
