Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reveals that two of his key players are out ‘for a long time’ after reporting back from Euro 2020 with injuries.
The pair came out of the summer’s European Championship with problems that will require rehabilitation.
Foden missed England’s final loss to Italy with a foot injury and was pictured last month wearing a protective boot. Belgium star De Bruyne, meanwhile, carried an Achilles problem through his country’s campaign.
Guardiola confirmed that both Foden and De Bruyne will be sidelined for the start of the new season, as he addressed the media ahead of City’s meeting with Leicester this weekend.
“Phil will be out for a while, it’s a tough injury with the national team, we have to be careful with it because if we’re not, we anticipate it will be longer and longer,” Guardiola said.
“Kevin still is out as well. I think he will come back a little bit sooner than Phil, apparently. But both are still out for a long time, for a while.”
The premier league champions will begin their 2021/22 domestic campaign on Saturday, as they face Leicester City in the FA Community Shield at Wembley.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

We have plenty of options to cover for both players guys so don’t worry. Plus, KDB will most likely be back by gw2 or 3. We will be fine, don’t worry

This is why we got Grealish then 💙💙💙

Kevin Debruyne is injured and the season hasn’t started yet. He is really very soft. He can’t stay fit. That’s why signing Grealish won’t affect the game time of other players.
