Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club have temporarily placed their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes on hold.
Mendes, who has been with Sporting from the age of 10, only made his senior first-team debut under a year ago and has already attracted scouts from elite clubs across the continent.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a stellar breakthrough campaign in the Primeira Liga last year, chipping in with one goal and one assist as Sporting lifted the top-flight title.
Mendes’s form saw him rewarded with a place in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020, and his performances have supposedly caught the eye of Pep Guardiola.
The premier league champions are looking for a new left-back with the club open to selling Benjamin Mendy, who has not lived up to his £52million price-tag since arriving at City three years ago.
According to The Mirror, Manchester City have shelved an attempt to complete a transfer for Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes until the end of Euro 2020, , after opening talks with the player’s advisers in May.
The report claim that the 18-year-old left-back, who has a reported release clause of £60.1m., has been told by manager Fernando Santos to concentrate on this summer’s competition and to take his mind off a transfer.
The report adds the Blues are now running the risk of Real Madrid firming up their interest in the player if he impresses over the next month.
Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo have been helping with a charm offensive to convince Mendes that he would enjoy life in the premier leaque.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
I will prefer him over Mendy https://t.co/OcIm8mwtI8

We should focus on Kane. Our team can solve our left back side with Zinny and Cancelo.

Give them nmecha and yangel Herrera and pay a lower price. It’s really not that hard.

If we bought him, Grealish and Kane with losing Laporte, Mahrez, Sterling, it would be an excellent window!

Just buy him, we have no time.
