Manchester City have reportedly agreed an £88m deal with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish, and the transfer is expected to be completed after this summer’s European Championship.
Reports over the course of the past month have suggested that the Villa midfielder has been attracting significant levels following his impressive season and is poised to move to the Etihad Stadium.
The speculation surrounding a move to Man City has gathered pace in recent days, with the Premier League champions seemingly in the driving seat for his signature.
According to CaughtOffside, an £88m fee has been agreed between the two parties, which is understood to have been in place since the end of last season.
The report claims the 25-year-old midfielder is stated to be joining on a five-year deal which will be officially announced once Euro 2020 concludes.
Whether the report is totally accurate is open to debate. The most trusted journalist in football – Fabrizio Romano – stated on June 26 that there is still “nothing advanced” between City and Villa regarding Grealish.
The Italian did confirm that Grealish is a top targets for premier league champions. However, he added that a final decision would not be made until after the Euros.
Grealish, who will be hoping to start for his country against Germany in the last-16 stage of the European Championship on Tuesday night, has scored 32 goals and registered 43 assists in 213 outings for Villa.
