Some Manchester City fans are far from happy with Sergio Aguero’s father Leonel del Castillo after comments he made about Pep Guardiola.
Aguero has left Manchester City and joined Barcelona upon the expiration of his contract, ending a decade-long stay at the Etihad.
The Argentine extended his lead as the club’s record scorer in his last appearance at the Etihad as he scored twice against Everton on the final day of the season.
Pep Guardiola was seen in tears on the final day of the Premier League season praising Aguero for his contribution to the club.
“He’s a special person for all of us. He’s so nice. He helped me a lot, he’s so good. We cannot replace him, we cannot,” said Guardiola.
However, Leonel El Castillo, Aguero’s father, has questioned whether the Blues boss was genuine in his outpouring of emotion and has claimed that he always wants to be the star of the show rather than his players.
“I don’t believe his tears. For me, he never wanted Kun. He always wants to be the main man and not the players,” he told A Radio La Red, via TYC Sports.
“I don’t believe [in] Guardiola. He never wanted it [the CL trophy], he wants to be the protagonist of all the teams.”
“He says that he [Aguero] is irreplaceable and he does not have him in the squad.
“There are things about Guardiola, he is a great coach. But from one day to the next the players change you, the environment changes. You never know if you are a starter or not.
“There is someone who says if you are not here to stay at the club and you have no choice but to change. He [Aguero] was [allowed to stay] until the last time [he renewed his contract] but it was not possible [this time] – team where he is an idol.”
Aguero’s brother Maurico del Castillo had recently reacted rashly on social media and tweeted a direct stab at Pep Guardiola. He quickly deleted it but it was caught and reported by The Times.
“Since Guardiola arrived at City, he has never liked my brother,” he said.
The comments were shared on Twitter by @City_Xtra, and they attracted plenty of attention from the fans. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts.

Aguero is a grown man. Why is his father talking like a parent complains against the class teacher? Geez. Parents should not come to workplace.

There’s 100% truth in this. He’s disgraceful how he discards players. Zlatan, Yaya, Deco, Ronaldinho, at Bayern some players came out and said this and now Aguero. Pep Isn’t a great human as everyone thinks.

This is high level sport and people will be upset at decisions. Doesn’t mean Pep isn’t a good person, and that’s been echoed by plenty of people. Plus, see all the great work he does for charities, even this season with Open Arms.

I love Pep but there’s truth in this

Never understand why people do these interviews. It only comes across bitter and doesn’t achieve anything. Pep clearly valued Aguero and if anything elevated his game to even higher level. Moving him on for a younger striker isn’t an insult, esp. now he’s at Barca.
