Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is willing to include Aymeric Laporte in Harry Kane swap deal.
In recent weeks, there has been growing speculation Laporte may find a way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Barcelona reportedly interested in the Manchester City star.
This time last year, the £57 million defender was one of the first names on City’s star-studded team sheet, his near-faultless performances causing Pep Guardiola to label him the “best in the world” in his position.
But a serious knee problem saw him miss the majority of last season, whilst the arrival or Ruben Dias from Benfica last summer saw the Frenchman lose his place in the team.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have offered Laporte to Tottenham as part of a £100 million player-plus-cash deal that would see Kane go in the other direction.
The premier league champions have already lost young centre-back Eric Garcia to Barcelona on a free transfer, and Should City move Laporte on this summer, it would leave Nathan Ake as the only back up to regular pairing Dias and John Stones.
As of now, Laporte have a contract with Manchester City which will see him remain at the club till the summer of 2025.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter, Many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions. Guardiola may not value Laporte quite as highly as before. But it appears the defender still has plenty of admirers on the blue half of Manchester.
Here’s what some Man City fans on Twitter had to say about the swap deal:
If we gave up Laporte or Sterling plus a huge fee for Kane I’d question the marbles of those in power at #mcfc https://t.co/XhUsymchF2

I swear to god if Laporte goes to Spurs, I’m done.

Nope. Stupid if we do that tbh.

Laporte has ambitions. He wants to win trophies. He’s world class and deserves to be in a world class team who are winning trophies. Spurs isn’t any of this

Has the club completely lost it? Sterling and Laporte must be kept at all costs. I’m open for letting Jesus go the other way, but at the same time, without Agüero we’re extremely thin up front and therefore I believe Jesus must be kept as rotation

Keep Laporte 🤬

Yes but Laporte leaving should be at least 75m+ because his age is perfect and his qualities are unquestionable. I’m not sure about Sterling though however Jesus should be kept if we get kane because kane is injury prone

If City give Spurs Laporte, it’s not a boardroom, it’s a comedy club.
