Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Aymeric Laporte would be ‘open to offers’ this summer, after falling behind Ruben Dias and John Stones last season.
Laporte was City’s best defender during their title-winning campaign two years ago, but a serious knee problem saw him miss the majority of last season, whilst the arrival or Ruben Dias from Benfica last summer saw the Frenchman lose his place in the team.
Earlier this week, Mundo Deportivo reported Aymeric Laporte is doubting his future at Manchester City after losing his place in Pep Guardiola’s regular starting eleven due to the scintillating form of teammates John Stones and Ruben Dias.
According ESPN’s Moi Llorens and Samuel Marsden, Laporte would be ‘open to offers’ this summer, and while all three big La Liga clubs have been mentioned in the conversation, FC Barcelona have risen to the top of the list.
However, the report claims the Catalan club would not be able to fit the Manchester City man in their squad unless they can offload two centre-backs. Firstly, Barca would look to find a new home for Samuel Umtiti, and if successful would look to move on one more defender, with Clement Lenglet being an option.
Barcelona have already signed Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia from City this summer via free transfers and Laporte could become the third player to join the La Liga Club in this summer’s transfer window.
Should City move Laporte on this summer, it would leave Nathan Ake as the only back up to regular pairing Dias and John Stones.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
Weak mentality and if he wants let him leave

Thats poor tbh.. Falls of favour for one season and he's off not willing to fight for his spot 😬

He hasn't got a place when Pep needs to use Dias on the left to hold Stones' hand. On ability it's Laporte left, Dias right.

Laporte defends better than Stones and can play out better than him, but Pep thinks he can make a player out of him in spite of evidence to the contrary
Agree. Stones didn't call it quits last year when he wasn't getting game time. He improved and fought for his place.

Laporte never said the rumor was false he just said he had never spoken to that reporter

Love him but that's a very weak mentality. That's why we should respect Stones & Zinchenko more they fought & get their place back
