Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Raheem Sterling is ‘angry’ with the club’s attempts to offer him to Tottenham in part-exchange for Harry Kane.
Sterling, who has scored both of England’s goals at Euro 2020, struggled to show his best form for Pep Guardiola’s side last season despite netting 14 times and contributing 12 assists across all competitions.
Sterling have two years left to run on his deals at the Etihad Stadium, and have already been linked with moves away from the club this summer.
City could have put their plan for Raheem Sterling to sign a new contract in peril by offering him in a deal for Kane.
Tottenham chairman Levy values the striker at over £100million. As such, City are reportedly considering including Sterling as a makeweight in the deal.
According to the Daily Mirror, though, Sterling has become ‘angry’ after learning of the development.
Sterling and the club were hoping to open talks over a new deal despite becoming frustrated by his lack of game-time; and had hoped to follow Kevin de Bruyne in increasing his salary.
Manchester City’s stance that Sterling can leave if the price is right, with the club valuing him at £80M, has prompted him to reassess his options.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.

I would be frustrated too if I heard I was offered to Tottenham

His performances this season have been at Spurs level

Play better and maybe you won’t be offered up 🤷🏻♂️

I like Raheem too…I doubt City offered him as a make weight in Kane deal…think its all press talk. He needs a good rest and will come back refreshed/sharp next season…as England form shows, he’s still a top player.

We can’t wait for him to leave

If true he simply can’t stay, that sort of energy in any team is not worth having.

This is his last season to prove himself now. The owner the fans and probably most his team mates think he’s a liability
