Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Riyad Mahrez is one of the players that the club have ‘an intention’ to open talks with regarding a new contract.
Mahrez has rediscovered the form that saw him win the PFA Player of the Year award in 2016, and he looks a farcry from the player who struggled to get off of the bench in his first season at City.
Mahrez’s future was uncertain earlier in the season, with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on monitoring the situation surrounding him at the Etihad.
But he’s now indispensable under Pep Guardiola, as he delivered a superb all-round performance with a Champions League masterclass against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 30-year-old Algerian winger grabbed a brace on the night and has now scored three of City’s four goals in the semi-finals.
The Algerian international became only the second Premier League player, after Sadio Mane, to end a Champions League semi-final with three goals.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Riyad Mahrez is one of the players that Manchester City now have ‘an intention‘ to open talks with regarding a new contract.
Romano states that City officials will talk about the possibility of a new contract with Riyad Mahrez himself and with his agent in the coming months.
The former Leicester City star, who still has just two years remaining on his current deal, has made 45 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 14 goals with seven assists.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

It’s better to avoid a Sané situation with only one year left on the contract when a decision needs to be made
