Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays another update on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva, who has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium as a possible replacement for Sergio Aguero.
The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for his German club during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 24 times and registering nine assists in all competitions.
The Portuguese striker is one of the names on City’s short list, along with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, Tottenham Hotspur‘s Harry Kane, Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martínez, and Southampton’s Danny Ings, as they seek to find a replacement for Sergio Aguero this summer.
His performance this season has been attracting the attention of a host of European clubs with reports in February claiming City are among four clubs that have Andre Silva on their radar.
Sport 1 claimed that the player, who earns £27,500-a-week at Frankfurt has a release clause in his contract of £27 million and that should delight potential suitors.
However, according to Goal Journalist Ronan Murphy, the Frankfurt striker does not have a €30M release clause this summer, as confirmed to Goal and Spox by the player’s agents.
Silva’s current deal with Frankfurt is due to run until June 2023, with Sky Sports Germany last month claiming the Portugal international could command a relatively reasonable price tag in the region of £25.6m.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, many Man City fans have have been discussing the possibility of him arriving in Manchester.
If this is true then id understand if we get him. Good deal tbh

Great alternative to the Ings (second striker) signing, would be happy if he was this seasons ake

That’s tempting ya know 😬 very cheap and it’s a experiment if Dortmund Or Spurs don’t sell for the right price 🤷♂️

But for 25m or whatever it wouldn’t matter too much.

Could see us going for Silva if Haaland ends up staying and then going back for Haaland when his clause comes in – if he’s still needed
Not the most clinical but he sure can score. His penalty record is also good and set piece headers could come in handy too.

outscoring Haaland this season but so has Werner last season…still though he looks like more of a poacher scoring tight angles, headers and penalties. I like him way more than Werner and for 30M he’d be worth the risk for sure.
