Manchester City fans have been hailing Kevin De Bruyne following his performance against Borussia Dortmund, branding him “true leader”.
A superb strike from the outstanding Jude Bellingham saw the German side level their quarter-final tie after 15 minutes of the second leg at Signal Iduna Park.
City responded in the second half with a penalty from Riyad Mahrez and a fine effort from Phil Foden to win 2-1 on the night and progress 4-2 on aggregate.
While Phil Foden may have stole the limelight in this game, wednesday’s clash was yet another example of why De Bruyne is Man City’s most important player.
De Bruyne, 29, was instrumental on the night playing in one of the attacking positions as well as leading the team well after they went behind.
The Belgian ace went close to scoring on two occasions, Unfortunate to hit the bar but kept driving the side on.
City fans, then, were all over Twitter praising KDB for his display. Here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter…
Underrated in terms of dribbling and ball retention

That front 3 tonight has been outstanding but De Bruyne is just on another planet, football wise. Glides past people, finds the right pass in the most important moments. Best player to ever wear the City shirt.

De Bruyne best player on the pitch by a country mile

Still a lot of players playing far from their best (Gundogan, Rodri, Dias) but the class of De Bruyne and Foden carried us through. KDB especially brilliant over the two legs – a true leader.
