Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is preparing a new contract offer for Phil Foden as the club look to reward the midfielder for his influential performances.
Foden, who is a lifelong Man City fan, 20, has scored 13 goals this season and filled the void left by the departure of David Silva last summer, as well as keeping Raheem Sterling out of the City side.
He recently helped enhance his reputation further by scoring the winning goals in both legs of City’s Champions League quarter-final wins over Borussia Dortmund, to set up a semi-final showdown with Paris St Germain.
According to the Mirror, City are ‘ready to open talks’ with Phil Foden over a lucrative new contract to ‘reflect his emergence as one of their most important players’.
The report claims City are willing to offer him a new contract worth £100,000-a-week which would see his deal extended through to 2026.
City are wary that all of Europe’s biggest clubs would be keen to sign Foden should the opportunity present itself, and want to tie down a player that first joined them at U9 level.
Foden signed a deal with the club in 2018, which sees him earn £30,000-a-week and runs until 2024.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra and City Chief, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.
