Borussia Dortmund have slapped a €150m (£130m) price tag on star striker Erling Haaland ahead of the summer transfer window, amid the ongoing struggle to secure Champions League football according to report.
City have been heavily linked with a move for the Dortmund’s striker this summer and will have to beat off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus among others for his signature.
According to Eurosport, Dortmund have set their asking price at a massive €150million (£130m), before a buy-out clause comes into effect in 2022, thought to be set at around €75million.
The report claims that there’s a ‘feeling’ that Haaland may stay at Dortmund for another year until his release clause becomes active, but that would depend on whether the club can qualify for the Champions League.
While this sort of money will almost certainly rule out the large majority of potential suitors, Pep Guardiola had also described the prospect of another record breaking transfer in the close season as “impossible”, though he later softened that stance
Now that his price tag has been altered, City may be enticed to make a move and take advantage of Dortmund’s willingness to drop their valuation for arguably the most coveted youngster in world football.
