A number of Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to react to Joao Cancelo’s performance as Pep Guardiola’s side eased to a 2-0 victory over Borussia Moenchengladbach in their Champions League last-16 first leg.
Cancelo, who is a natural right-back, was deployed at left-back by Pep Guardiola, the former Juventus man played a key factor in both goals as City kept another clean sheet.
He assisted Silva’s opener with a pinpoint cross before his ball in was headed across goal by Silva for Jesus to score the second on a productive night on the left side.
Guardiola has devised a system that enables the technically gifted Cancelo to drift from full back into a deep-lying midfield role to supplement City attacks.
The 26 year old star, who is enjoying a fantastic season at the Etihad Stadium, has received a lot of praises with Rio Ferdinand saying watching him is a ‘fantastic new way’ of seeing a full-back play while Joleon Lescott says his absence would be the ‘most costly’ to City.
Many Man City fans have been reacting to the Cancelo’s Performance – here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter.

Cancelo is without doubt the best right back, left back, attacking midfield, defensive midfield player in the world….
And stick striker in there for good measure…..#mcfc

Cancelo was bought as a full back. He’s better than most CM’s. Don’t tell me Pep doesn’t improve players. #mcfc

This guy is a world class footballer. He’s not the next so and so, he’s the first Cancelo. We’ve seen full backs drift in to number 6 areas, but this is something else. How many new positions has Pep created in the game now?!

Cancelo is becoming something of a revelation. He’s a player you expect is going to create something magical and he usually does.
Foden is going from strength to strength as well.— toni wild (@tonywild19) February 24, 2021
