Manchester City fans have been left star struck by Phil Foden’s performance as City thumped Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge to heap pressure on Frank Lampard.
Foden started the game in an electric display from midfield, providing the pass for Gundogan to open the scoring and took his goal beautifully.
Playing as part of the front three, it was a performance that will leave Azpilicueta waking up in cold sweats this evening. He toyed with him.
Foden was silky in possession and found the right pass at critical times in the match – as shown by his assist for the Gundogan opener and clinical finish for his goal.
The €60M-rated star received a vigorous embrace from Guardiola on his second-half withdrawal, to toast a virtuoso performance and one that left Chelsea chasing first-half shadows. Now the job Guardiola has on his hands is to make him an automatic starter in these big games.
unsurprisingly, Foden is attracting plenty of praise for his 86-minute display with supporters saying he deserve to always be in starting lineup.
Here is how fans have reacted on social media:
This kid showboating in every position he plays. Unreal talent!

I am usually critical of him because he doesn’t have a clear character on the pitch, but today he was superb offensively and defensively.

Truly a genius. Revolutionized our defense and now we’re seeing glimpses from our old attacking form. Could be the start of something incredible

Don’t understand why he gets so little game time
