Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports to yet another update on Barcelona forward Lionel Messi’s potential move to the Etihad.
Many fans will remember the crazy two-week period towards the end of August 2020 as City were reportedly in talks to sign Messi with the Argentine star pushing for a move away from Barcelona.
However, the six-times world player of the year eventually decided to stay in Spain for the coming season, the last on his current deal, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined as a teenager and with whom he has amassed more than 30 major trophies.
Messi is now free to talk to clubs outside Spain about a summer move, with his contract at Barcelona expiring at the end of the season.
According to Sport via Sport Witness, Messi thinks of renewing his relationship with Pep Guardiola once again, a move that would ‘guarantee fun on the pitch’ for the Argentine and the chance to be ‘close to the titles’.
The report adds that Pep Guardiola’s decision to stay at the Etihad until 2023 would fit into Lionel Messi’s ‘life plan’, while ‘many pieces fit together’ to make the move a reality.
Leo is full of praise and admiration whenever he speaks of his former coach. The Citizens may not be the powerhouse that swept through the Premier League a couple of years back anymore but with Messi and Pep riding together again, the sky could be the limit.

As much as I would love to see Leo dawn our jersey there’s a part of me which tells me it isn’t gonna be a very smart move on our part. But 🤞

Is this team planning for the future or just interested in shiny objects? We should be rebuilding that team from head to tail and stop going on these wild geese chase. Devoted majority of the summer to this bullshit and now it’s started again? Unbelievable!
