Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is unmoved over the prospect of Lionel Messi becoming his team-mate at the Etihad.
City were reportedly in talks to sign Messi this summer with the Argentine star pushing for a move away from Barcelona.
However, the six-times world player of the year eventually decided to stay in Spain for the coming season, the last on his current deal, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined as a teenager and with whom he has amassed more than 30 major trophies.
Kevin De Bruyne has played down speculation surrounding a possible move.
“I don’t really care to be honest,” he said when asked about Messi coming to the Etihad.
“If he comes it’s a good thing, if he doesn’t there are enough good players at the club who I enjoy playing with, so that is not for now.”
In reaction to Kevin’s comments shared on Twitter by Man City xtra, Many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

Well said Kev. Following on from City’s admission that they MAY make an offer for LM it will now be the subject of intense media speculation… NOT helpful. Can we just say nothing of our intention, sign him and then announce it.. Is it really that difficult!!

Messi is a 🐐 and bringing him to City will be a statement signing. Leo brings so much to City – from revenue, fans, sponsors etc.. Just imagine KDB and Leo linking up. It will be like the Iniesta n Messi duo 😇 Can’t wait for that to happen 🤞🤞
