'Using city as their scouts, it’s embarrassing' - Fans reacts as Man United hijacked deal for City target

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the Citizens made the first bid to sign promising Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri during the summer transfer window, despite the player ultimately signing for Manchester United.

According to Alan Nixon of the Sun as relayed by Sport illustrated, City submitted the first bid for the player – a proposal claimed to be worth £6 million to the 18 year-old’s now former club Peñarol but city rivals Manchester United ‘got wind’ of the offer and ‘topped it’, offering the Uruguayan club around £10 million before signing the player on deadline day.

United are reportedly to had scouted the young forward for a number of years but accelerated their plans to sign the Uruguayan after missing out on priority transfer target Jadon Sancho.

The winger who only made his professional debut for the Uruguayan side in August last year also rejected the chance to join Lyon in order to seal a move to Old Trafford this summer.

ManCity needs to change the strategy a little bit here. Announce a fake target, allow ManUnited to go all out on him and you buy your actual target pretending to have lost your actual target (i feel thats what they did with Diaz signing). Easy peasy.
