Man City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly was certain that he would leave the club for the Etihad during the summer transfer window.
The Citizens have long targeted the 29-year-old defender but were unwilling to meet Aurelio De Laurentiis’ asking price of £72million.
City instead made the move to bring £64m Ruben Dias to the Etihad Stadium from Benfica last month.
According to Corriere dello Sport, City’s decision to change target surprised Koulibaly himself, who was sure that a switch to the Etihad Stadium was in the offing.
The report adds that Koulibaly was happy to stay at Napoli, though, and that he has opened talks with the club over a contract extension including a pay rise.

Well in this case I completely stand with the city board
Transfers go both wats. A player should also be active enough for a switch talk to the club hand in a transfer request even verbally is fine @kkoulibaly26 did none.
Now stay aa a 30 year old at a non ambitious club— Pritam Prakash Sangodkar (@SusegatGoan07) October 13, 2020
