Manchester City Fans have been reacting to quotes from former Liverpool players John Aldridge and Peter Crouch regarding the bookies’ Premier League title favourites for this season.
The 2020-21 Premier League season gets under way on Saturday with some of the top-flight’s biggest teams hoping to dethrone last season’s runaway winners Liverpool.
Despite surrendering the crown they had won in 2018 and 2019, Manchester City are 4/5 favourites to win the 2020-21 Premier League. Champions Liverpool are next at 9/4, with big-spending Chelsea the third favourites at 10/1.
Former English football players Peter Crouch however disagree with the bookies and predicts the final Premier League table with Liverpool to retain title.
Peter Crouch Speaking to GiveMeSport said: “I think Liverpool are winning the league, I really do. think City are an absolute class act, I think they’ve definitely strengthened defensively with Ake.
“People seem to think Liverpool dropped off last year but they won the league at a canter. This year, they’ll be back on it and they’ll fly again”
While former football player and manager John Aldridge can’t see how the Citizens are favourites claiming they haven’t done enough to solve their defence problems.
John on Independente wrote: “The bookies have installed Manchester City as Premier League title favourites and I just can’t see how they have come to that verdict”
“Pep Guardiola’s side finished 18 points behind champions Liverpool last season and have not done enough in the transfer market to solve their defence problems in a summer when they have lost David Silva and Leroy Sane”

He talks a load of nonsense at times, but have to agree with him on this.— Andrew Edwards (@andrewedwards00) September 12, 2020
Without Koulibaly, I sadly agree— aashay (@aashayk2003) September 12, 2020
That’s why we need a CB(Koulibaly) and a left back (preferably GOSENS)— CHUPE (@Y_chupe) September 12, 2020
I agree with him, this is a waste year for us, just because the coach is leaving city refuse to spend and improve, which is again another mistake. We will be lucky to finish in the top 4.— papite (@jgedeon1717) September 12, 2020
On one thing he’s right we shouldn’t be favourites based on last season, but to say our squad isn’t good enough is laughable. We’ll improve they will drop. He suddenly things Liverpool are indestructible and he’s in for a nasty shock— Fletcher Skim (@DaveSkimmin) September 12, 2020
Almost like it isn’t the same Guardiola side that did the domestic treble the season before or that’s it’s not the same Guardiola side that reaches 100 points….what a clown 🤡— 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐁𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 (@ManCityBibIe) September 12, 2020
It’s almost as if he hasn’t considered Liverpool’s poor form at the end of last season, the fact they haven’t strengthened, or that they’ve been incredibly lucky with injuries for almost 3 seasons. Liverpool will not win the league this year.— Jonny (@Jonny_H88) September 12, 2020
That’s why we need to sign kalidou pic.twitter.com/4FHWZiwB9x— Fabrizio (@ben61554587) September 12, 2020
