Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club is set to complete the signing of Ruben Dias from SL Benfica.
The 23-year-old has long been a reported target of Pep Guardiola and City. With the club heavily linked with several defenders this summer, City has not shown any genuine interest Dias.
With less than two weeks of the transfer window to go, City are still working on recruiting a second senior centre-back following the earlier summer capture of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.
The Citizens have been trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for much of the transfer window. It’s been a hard fight, with the Serie A club’s president wanting a huge fee and being unrealistic regarding his prospects of getting it.
As a result, City were reportedly targeting Sevilla’s Koundé and Atletico Maldrid’s Jose Giménez as alternatives..
According to the latest claims from Portugal by Ojogo, City are expected to close a deal for Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias for between €60M and €65M.
The report claims the swap deal will involve Nicolas Otamendi from City with discussions held between City and Benfica representatives over the part-exchange transfer and an agreement is close.

So do we get both Dias and Kounde or one of them?— CITYzen (@DiqueyNImimi) September 25, 2020
Thanks pep. The league is ours now 😐— Alex 🥶 (Tier bro trust me) (@XysoLFC) September 25, 2020
What will happen to the kounde deal now? I don’t mind Ruben Dias as he is top draw and underrated af but would have loved kounde at the club.— Arnav Gupta (@King_Kevin100) September 25, 2020
Hope this is true, better than kounde and koulibaly. A leader, portugal first team, and still young with space to develop— Dorian Košutić (@foreverzilla) September 25, 2020
He’s better than Kounde. He was always a better option. He’s 23. He’s a beast— Keanu Fan (@lotsofguns01) September 25, 2020

Not sure why people are moaning I have seen a few benfica games and he is a very solid, technical defender. Exceptionally good in the air as well, 10x better than both Stones and Otamendi, and he’s only 24 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️great signing for us in my opinion 👏— Harvey Lewis (@Harveycity16) September 25, 2020
