Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports to yet another update on Eric Garcia‘s potential move to Barcelona.
Barcelona are looking to the former La Masia prodigy as a long-term replacement for Gerard Piqué having sold the youngster to Manchester City in 2017.
Two days ago, Sport reported that Eric Garcia had made his mind up that he wants to return to Barcelona, and the Spanish giants will try to negotiate a deal to sign him after the Champions League is concluded.
According to Mundo via Sport Witness today, the La Masia graduate’s future is ‘in the hands’ of his agent De la Peña, and it’ll be the representative who will decide what’s best for the defender.
The report adds that De la Peña believes Pep Guardiola’s time at the Etihad will come to an end in the not so distant future. Which could be a factor for the player when deciding whether or not to sign a new deal.
García is under contract at the Etihad until 2022 and City are working on a contract renewal for the 19-year-old La Masía graduate.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
ManCity with or without Pep is ManCity. Pep will leave City after a couple years. But Pep will never be Barcelona’s coach again. In short, Garcia prefers “FC Barcelona” over City or Pep. If Garcia doesn’t want to play for “Manchester City”, he should leave the club.— ぽえも💯 (@Razqul) August 3, 2020
I think so too.
Manchester City with or without Pep is Manchester City. If Garcia doesn’t want to play for “Manchester City”, he should leave the club. We have Stones, Tosin and Harwood-bellis.— ぽえも💯 (@Razqul) August 3, 2020
Barca are in tatters at the moment, he’d be wise to stay— 💯 (@Al54597981) August 3, 2020
“Very much hope he stays, if he decides to leave it’s a shame because he has potential to be top 3 CBs itw but we already have other academy CBs who are eager to play for City,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “As much as I like him, he is quite small and has no pace to speak of, not 100% sure he is best suited to the English game. “
“Haha bullshit, Pep Guardiola will stay for many years,” claimed one fan.
while another asked, “Why his agent? Can’t he decide for himself?”
while another tweeted, “Is it just me or I actually don’t care as he hasn’t been outstanding when he’s played? Richards was better than him at his age and if he wants to go then let him crack on- he’s unlikely to play next season anyway.”
While a further City supporter commented: “Imagine working hard all these years as a kid to make it to first team football which i think he has nailed down, to be told your agent will make your choices from now on. Pathetic !!! get rid of him straight away garcia.”
