Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards was not impressed watching Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly against Barcelona
Koulibaly struggled on Saturday night against Barcelona where Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez gave him a difficult game as Napoli were knocked out of the Champions League
Asked by fellow pundit Jamie Carragher about the Manchester City target, Richards went as far as comparing Koulibaly to Eliaquim Mangala – an expensive signing from Porto in 2014 that proved to be a calamitous transfer.
“I think his price-tag is £20m less,” he said on CBS Sports.
“Everyone talks about how he is supposed to be composed on the ball, he’s aggressive but I see similarities to Mangala – and he went to City and it didn’t really work out for him there so I’m not totally convinced after that performance.”
In reaction to Richards’ comment shared on Twitter by City Chief, Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions with many supporting the former City defender’s claim.
I concur with you. Let’s find a better strong replacement. I hope we have eyes on @AdamaTrd37 he is a great buy @ManCity— 𝕀.𝔸𝕄.𝕂𝕀ℂ𝕂𝕆𝔽𝔽𝔼𝕄𝔼𝕂𝔸🇳🇬 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 (@emekakickoff) August 9, 2020

I think he new City scouts & Football media around the World is watching him considering the speculations of being signed somewhere & that affected his performance last night. But @ City he will partner w Laporte, Ake, walker & Rodri at the back. He won’t Cary the whole team alon— . (@Carpediem_8819) August 9, 2020
