Lifelong City fan Noel Gallagher, believes big changes are needed at Manchester City after failure to go beyond the quarter-final stage of the champions league yet again.
City suffered quarter-final anguish for a third successive year as they went down 3-1 to unfancied Lyon in Lisbon on Saturday.
Last year, it was Tottenham who knocked us out in dramatic fashion at the Etihad Stadium, with Raheem Sterling’s last minute goal ruled out by VAR. The year before that, it was Liverpool, who produced a scintillating display in the first leg at Anfield to put the game beyond City’s reach.
Gallagher dejected just like all City fans believes its time big changes to be made at the club including the phasing out Sergio Aguero and selling the Argentine’s understudy, Gabriel Jesus.
“Retaining the Carabao Cup, which we always win, seems to be the priority these days. I’m dreading the start of the season, last night will take a while to get over. We should have 3-5 new players to shake it up a bit. Can we see past Liverpool at the moment?” Gallagher texted Talksport.
“I’d buy Joao Felix, phase Aguero out over the season – he’s a legend, treat him with respect. Sell Jesus – he’s no hitman and buy another striker in the following season.”
“If we had Kylian Mbappe in front of him [De Bruyne], we’d win EVERYTHING,” Gallagher added.
