Man City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a comment by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand urging John Stones to quit the Citizens and join West Ham United this summer.
Much was expected of the Englishman when he arrived at the Etihad Stadium, but the defender failed to take his game to the next level under Guardiola.
Stones has fallen down the central defensive pecking order at City and is now behind Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi and Eric Garcia
Pep Guardiola has preferred holding midfielder Fernandinho at centre-half at times which is an ominous sign for the former Everton defender.
City’s signing of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, has led to growing speculation that Stones could leave this summer.
Speaking to the Daily mail, Rio Ferdinand is quoted as having said: “He really has to look at himself and his situation closely, with the Euros coming up next year, he has to make a big decision.”
“In fact, I don’t even think it’s a big decision to leave – it’s just the right decision. If he wants to be a top centre-half and play for England again, he can’t stay at City,” he added.
In reaction to Ferdinand’s opinion shared on Twitter by City Chief, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
True can’t lie, with ake and koulibaly and garcia in our team, I even think he should leave.— M-JAY ⚡ (@MCIMAJ) August 13, 2020

Good advice Rio. Tell him to leave to save his career— Timothy Hunyenyewa (@THunyenyewa) August 14, 2020
100%. Stones needs to leave. Not just to get more playing time, but for his own morals. Let’s just admit he wasn’t worth £50m and move on lol. It’s his 4th season and he’s barely justified half of the price we paid for him.— rumoursball (@rumoursball) August 13, 2020
👏👏👏👏 at last some common sense.. I’m a big fan of his .. but no good to us injured… I’d give him 1 more season.. his transfer fee won’t charge with this being a Covid window.. worth the risk for me— Mark (@markNbrogs) August 13, 2020
Funny how everyone wants to give Stones another “chance” but how many chances does he really need?! He is not the same guy like we bought & I will be laughing again when we concede goals, while he is in the pitch.— Kūn (@Mee_Steezyn) August 13, 2020
