Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the Citizens are leading the race to sign Right Back Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
City’s need for a centre-half is greater, with Pep Guardiola and the hierarchy having made the position a priority this summer, after the problems encountered in the wake of Vincent Kompany’s retirement this summer.
Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move for Upamecano, Milan Skriniar and Kalidou Koulibaly in recent weeks, as Pep Guardiola looks to sign a new centre-back at the end of the season.
According to an update courtesy of French media outlet le10sport, Manchester City are currently leading the pack to sign Dayot Upamecano – with the Sky Blues now looking to upgrade a weakened defence ahead of next season’s title challenge.
Upamecano has just one year remaining on his contract at Leipzig, meaning that despite having a £40.5 million release clause in his current contract, he could be available for as little as £35 million.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Chief and Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions

Only Pau Torres remains now😂— Romil (@RomilGala) July 17, 2020
Not how it works tho. Pretty certain Leipzig wouldn’t want a 33 yo defender past his prime lol. Use Angelino and or Zinchenko along— Lou (@Loutoo2) July 17, 2020
Eric Garcia is small and not fast, he will always be doubted. Especially in the premier league— Carl Sanders (@CSandersJr) July 17, 2020
