Manchester City are reportedly willing to activate the release clause in Lautaro Martinez’s Inter Milan contract in order to sign the centre-forward during this summer’s transfer window.
the Citizens have submitted a significant offers to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, according to reports in Spain.
According to Sport, via SportWitness, City are willing to pay the release clause of €111m to secure the striker and hand him a hefty salary as well.
The report also claims that Pep Guardiola’s side are ready to offer the striker a net annual salary of more than €10m (£8.8m) in the hope of holding off interest from elsewhere.
Barcelona are also said to be interested and it’s reported that while the Catalans won’t be able to match City’s offer, they believe that Martinez would rather stay at Inter if he can’t secure a move to Barcelona to play alongside his compatriot Lionel Messi.
According to Marca, Barcelona believe if the striker is to make his decision based on footballing reasons, he will either go to the Nou Camp or stay at Inter. The Spanish giants are confident Martinez’s arrival is on track and his final decision to make the move is not far away.
Martinez’s agent Alberto Yaque admitted earlier this week that he is yet to sit down officially with any clubs to discuss terms over a summer move. Yaque told Radio del Plata: ‘His constant growth makes the best teams in the world notice him and have that concept.
