Manchester City have chosen not to sign a midfielder despite a potential injury to Rodri, focusing instead on bolstering their right-wing department. The club was reportedly looking to sign an understudy for Rodri in the summer transfer window but have struggled to identify a suitable replacement for the world-class holding midfielder. Speculation about a move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has also been linked with Arsenal, ultimately did not materialize due to valuation concerns.

Guimaraes has confirmed that he never intended to leave Newcastle and is focused on making his mark at the club. While a move to Manchester City would have made sense in terms of playing opportunities and career development, the transfer now seems unlikely. The Brazilian midfielder could have formed a strong partnership with Rodri in City’s midfield, but the club’s decision not to pursue the deal means he will remain at Newcastle for the foreseeable future.
